There is an explosion of fun, artsy events happening in San Francisco this time of year.  5 weekends of art fairs, artist hosted parties, as well as music and literary themed festivals.   It’s October in SF, so it’s time to get out there and mix it up with thousands of artists, makers, movers and shakers.  Here are the dope art centered events starting this week and going into November in San Francisco.  See you out there!


Opera & Electronic Music at Mezzanine

SF Opera Lab is throwing a pop-up party with opera singers & EDM Djs.  Sounds pretty dope right?  Some aria mixed with Ableton, a bit  boushy but with a beat, it’s cadenza in a club, it’s… something new, different, and definitely worth checking out for $20.

It’s SF Open Studios Time!

Five Weekend | Oct 14 – Nov 12 @All Over SF

That’s right every weekend this month SF artists will open their studios, art collectives, & galleries to the public for opening parties and art shows.  fraternizing with artists is encouraged and expected.  The best way to go see what San Francisco artists are up to is to grab a free SFOS guide and take a stroll through SF’s living art scene, each weekend takes place in a different part of the city.

Blue Grass & Metal Fests

Saturday, October 21 at 12 PM – 4 PM

The glorious Jerry Garcia Amphitheater at McLaren Park is hosting a metal festival…ya, a metal festival in McLaren Park.  It’s free and it’s featuring old school metal bands Ancient Mariner, Hammerdown & AC/DZ.  Hail Satan.

If you like a big costume party built by SF artists with world renouned DJs, look no further.  Pier 70 is going to be rocking this Halloween, packed to gills with art structures, music, and beautifully dressed freaks.  It’s the 10-Year Anniversary celebration of America’s most epic Halloween event, San Francisco’s Legendary Ghost Ship Halloween.  This year it’s loveboat and Moby, Fatboy Slim & dozens of amazing DJ’s are holding it down.
