SF Law Office Gets Barrage of Hate for Anti-Trump Sign

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

If you couldn’t tell, Pier 5 Law Offices is awesome. They are a a group of really progressive sole practitioner lawyers who have been fighting the good fight for over 40 years. In fact they’ve successfully defended more marijuana cases than any other group of lawyers.

As you can tell by the above photo, they also don’t mind making a statement. When I instagramed this a few weeks back it got over 1500 likes! But as you can probably guess, not everybody liked the sign.

I received an email today from one of the attorneys at Pier 5 who said they’ve been under attack by right-wing trolls for the past few days:

For the last two days our office has been under non-stop right-wing troll attack.  We’ve had to turn off our phones because of the threats pouring in.  Likewise our web presence is getting bombarded.

Take a look:

Hundreds of reviews in the last day or so.  All 1-star and most referencing the sign.  We have no idea what corner of the conservative political universe this is coming from, or if it’s a bot net or what.

So you know what your job is people: go on there and give them 5 star reviews. They are fighting the good fight for all of us. Help balance out all the shitty trolls that are trying to tank their business.

I live up the street from the sign also…. you must be new.
It’s very san Francisco to stick out, embarrass and insult the powers that be.
Happy the sign did it’s job.
      Have a lovely day.

There, I said it. Out loud and in public.Turns out it’s not so bad after all.

As my eight year old daughter figured out all on her own. “saying poopy head is the same as saying fuckhead, because you mean the same thing.”

Un-clutch your pearls and get up from the fainting couch, Brian.

ETA: “Screw” and “fuck”, while having similar “dictionary” meanings, are very different words in some important ways, not the least of which is the communication of intensity of feeling. English is a very rich and nuanced language, and sometimes the only word that captures the exact shade of meaning you need is “motherfucker.” It’s just how it works. It has nothing to do with being “edgy.”
