Landlord Leonard Lew, 84, and his daughter, Sabrina Elizabeth Lew, 30, went to their Mill Valley rental complex to talk with 71-year old Victor Aurelino Lugo about his pending eviction. At around 3:44 p.m., dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call from a resident at 939 E. Blithedale reporting that two people had been shot.

“The tension in the Bay Area between landlords and tenants has gone too far,” says sobbing Master tenant of Lew for 28 years, who does not want to be named. “Leonard and his beautiful, young daughter have been nothing but good people to me. His sweet daughter would often accompany him staying right by his side when he would come check on things in our apartment which we rent from Leonard. I can not even begin to comprehend this unnecessary loss. My heart goes out to him and his family. ”

A deputy arrived within two minutes of the 911 call and found the Lews suffering from gunshot wounds.

Sabrina Elizabeth Lew did not survive and died at the hospital while Leonard Lew spent the night in ICU and was expected to survive.

As he was being treated for his wounds, Leonard Lew was able to provide detectives with the name of the suspect.

Deputies finally entered the apartment about two hours after the shooting and found the gunman dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot, according to Marin County sheriff’s Sgt. Brenton Schneider.

A revolver was found lying at Lugo’s feet.

Lew’s tenant concludes, “Leonard has been my landlord for almost 28 years. He has been nothing but generous, reasonable, and the kind of upstanding landlord any renter could dream of. I have no idea what transpired in Mill Valley, but I want it to be known before any media scandalizes him or the situation, there is no way Leonard or his sweet daughter was deserving of this.”
