Most people look for a job that offers job security and advancement opportunities. The healthcare industry is growing at an extremely fast pace and skilled healthcare professionals are in high demand all around the world. For that reason, people working in healthcare typically benefit from job security, a competitive salary, and career progression opportunities. What’s more, you don’t necessarily have to invest lots of time and money gaining a medical degree and doctorate to secure a high-paying job in the healthcare industry.

With this in mind, here are three in demand careers in healthcare to consider:

1.  Nurse Anesthetist

Nurse anesthetists play a key role in a variety of medical procedures. They work alongside surgeons, dentists, and other medical professionals, and are responsible for ensuring that anesthesia is administered safely before, during, and after medical procedures. They are also involved in patient recovery and pain management.

Due to the risks involved, nurse anesthetists typically receive a high salary alongside other job perks. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average annual salary of a nurse anesthetist is $174,790, which makes it one of the highest paying jobs in the nursing sector. Other in demand nursing jobs include ward managers and nursing executives. If you are interested in advancing your nursing career, then you should consider completing a DNP executive leadership qualification online. This course equips qualified nurses with the specialist skills needed to apply for senior positions within the nursing field.

2. Physician Assistant

Physician assistants work in collaboration with physicians and surgeons to help diagnose and treat a variety of illnesses and diseases. They are also responsible for administering and prescribing medication, designing custom treatment plans, and providing patients with advice on their health. Often, physician assistants are supervised by physicians or surgeons. However, in some states physicians can act as a patient’s primary medical provider and work independently without supervision.

In the 2019 ranking of top healthcare jobs, US News and World Report ranked physician assistant as the best job in the healthcare industry. The job outlook for physician assistants is exceptionally good, with job opportunities expected to grow by a massive 31 percent by 2028. To become a physician assistant, you must usually obtain a master’s degree from an accredited education provider, then become licensed in the state you wish to practice in.

3. Radiation Therapist

Radiation therapists work as part of the cancer treatment team and are responsible for administering radiation treatments designed to destroy cancerous tumors. They are also responsible for developing treatment plans, discussing specific treatments and its effects with patients, and providing patient after-care. The average annual salary of a radiation therapist is $82,330 and job opportunities in the field are expected to increase by 9 percent by 2028. The job outlook for qualified radiation therapists is expected to continue growing as a result of advancements in radiation technology and an aging population. The qualification requirements vary depending on where you are based, but most states require radiation therapists to complete a degree in radiation therapy and then become lice
