Dance Music Roars Back to Life This Weekend in San Francisco

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

We have partnered with the folks who run Monarch, The Great Northern, and District Six in the publishing of this article.

With the June 15th rescinding of COVID restrictions, you finally have a chance to get your booty back into clubs and dance your face off. Some of our favorite clubs, Monarch and The Great Northern have curated several different events throughout this weekend to keep your feet moving and celebrate this huge milestone for nightlife.

Kick off your shimmying weekend on Friday with San Francisco’s very own Nick Monaco at Monarch.

Then get ready for a Saturday that will make the city roar. There are a handful of excellent parties going on.

For those still hesitant about being indoors, there’s a sweet daytime event called Electric Fields by Green Gorilla Lounge taking place at District Six (formerly Soma StrEat Foods). You can get your Disco, groovy, house vibes on all day.

Then on Saturday night, The Great Northern will reopen its doors for a well deserved afterparty with Soul Clap, DJ Holographic and San Francisco’s favorite nightlife hero Micah Byrnes aka Brunch Life.

For those who like more hypnotic sounds head over to Monarch on Saturday night for Direct To Earth and Konstruct’s Rebirth party.

All of these shows will sell out, but don’t worry you can still snag a ticket.

One of the few good things about all the downtime caused by the pandemic is that many venues had a chance to fix and upgrade things. Monarch is certainly one of these. Over the past 15 months they upgraded their famous Void sound system by bringing in all new powersoft amps, beryllium drivers, and custom software so that every driver in the system has its own amp channel! This is something that Void has never done anywhere else in the world. And they’ve topped it off with a custom LED lighting sculpture by Symmetry Labs!

This weekend is going to be pretty insane. Make sure you drink lots of water and stock up your fridge with some Pedialyte.
