AAPI Virtual Town Hall in the TL

This past Spring we saw a disturbing uptick in violence against the AAPI community. To combat this, the Tenderloin AAPI Virtual Town Hall will bring together longtime Tenderloin residents, program directors, and community organizers to share stories, learn about ongoing efforts and resources, and discuss how we can better work together to support and strengthen the AAPI community – in the TL and throughout the City. Join the conversation!
20th Annual Fresh Meat Festival of Queer and Transgender Performance

This festival may already be in it’s second week, but it’s honestly just getting started (and don’t worry – last week’s programs are still available on-demand through the festival’s end on the 27th). The packed lineup includes more than 40 artists and ensembles performing everything from bachata and bomba to trans & queer mariachi, from disabled dance theatre to award-winning wordsmiths – and, of course, plenty of voguing and ballroom-style performances.

Circus Center presents: PRISMATICA

This livestreamed variety show, hosted by the luscious Sparkles Devine and the magnetic Cheetah Biscotti, will showcase the astounding range and abilities of Circus Center’s queer instructors, staff, students, and community. Tickets are pay-what-you-can starting at just a buck, and every cent goes directly towards fueling Circus Center’s mission of education and preservation of the circus and arts.
Apothecary Raree: Progress

Apothecary Raree returns at last for its first live main-stage show since the lockdown. Join Jain Dowe and their Apothecarians for a neo-vintage night of electroswing elegance, a whirlwind Pride performance and dance party that will definitely, as its tagline promises, “cure what ails ya!”
Two Magicians, One Car Cross-Country Tour Kickoff Show
8:00 pm | Great Star Theatre | $20-300
Join magicians Kevin the Cap and Ash K. as they pack up their car and begin an unprecedented 120-night, 48-state, 100-show tour! Aren’t we lucky – we get ’em first, so we get ’em FRESH! Each magician will perform his own program at this farewell event, their last public performance in The City until the end of the tour in October. This delightful evening of magic and mayhem promises to be a gas for the grownups, but don’t be afraid to bring the kiddies along, too – the show is certified cool for ages 8+!

Opening Day for GOLEM: A Call to Action @ The Contemporary Jewish Museum

Celebrate the summer solstice, the opening of the CJM’s new Black Box Gallery for media and performance, and the opening of artist Julie Weitz’s new video installation by joining the @Jewseum for a day of free admission. Enjoy all of the current exhibitions (two of them are closing on the 27th, so take advantage!), then pop down to Wise Sons Deli downstairs for a delicious, delicious everything bagel… yum…
San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus presents: WIRED

This year’s SFGMC Pride showcase will be virtual, and they’ve really taken advantage of the opportunities presented by digital performance. WIRED promises a record-number of virtual chorus performance videos, and will feature special guest appearances. Exclusive performances from the chorus and world premieres of never-before-heard musical pieces await, so don’t forget to get registered to watch!
InTransit: An All-Trans Drag Show

The Castro’s first all-Trans drag show debuted to rave reviews last month, and hosts Polly Amber Ross and Lola Lewd are back to bring you another flight of the best in local Trans drag talent. Seating is available but extremely limited, so be sure to email intransitdrag@gmail.com to reserve a spot!

Recombinant Rebound

Gray Area is reopening their RML Cinechamber, a quote-unquote, “360° surround adventure in immersive sound, spatial cinema and sensory strangeness” – which sounds cool as hell, right?! They’ve got two programs made up of the work of 16 artists spanning two decades, all of which were created as panoramic experiences specifically for the CineChamber. Stop in for a show, and surrender to all that is sensory…
World Pride Wrench 2021

The SF Neo-Futurists are back with the annual Pride edition of their weekly theatrical madness, The Infinite Wrench. Past pride shows have included a coming out dance for the Babadook, an ode to the Folsom Street Festival, and musings on gay haircuts, and this year’s show is guaranteed to offer the same rollercoaster of chaos and community. Make sure to jump into the chat space during the show – you may just be pulled onto the virtual stage for some audience participation!

Astronautica: Voices of Women – An Opera

Put down the horned helmet, Brunhilde, and grab your spacesuit – this multilayered production of music, voice, and video by nine women composers is an opera for the next generation.
