Elon Musk Might Be Stepping Down as Twitter’s CEO

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

It’s been an absolutely demented circus at Twitter ever since Elon Musk took over a few months back. During that time, Musk has reinstated accounts that had been banned for hate speech, fired thousands of workers, lost a huge chunk of Twitter’s advertisers, neglected to pay rent, and forced workers to sleep on site instead of going home. And that’s just part of the grossness that he’s been perpetrating.

Through all of this, enough people have wised up to realize that no, Elon Musk is not some genius business man working to make the world a better place, he’s actually just a shitty narcissist with too much money and power. So much so that he got booed off the stage at a Dave Chappelle show in San Francisco.

So it should come as no surprise to anyone that the majority of people on Twitter want Musk to step down as CEO.

We found this out on Sunday when Musk tweeted “Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.”

Over 17.5 million people voted and at the time this article was published, 57.5% of voters said “Yes, sit down and shut the fuck up.”

As of the time of publication, Musk has not said whether he plans on actually following through.

In response to Musk’s potential move, a number of other people have offered to run Twitter instead. Snoop Dogg had a poll of his own asking “Should I run Twitter?” to which 81% of the 2.2 million voters said “Yes”.

As CNN point out though, “With or without the CEO title, however, Musk will almost certainly continue to control the company’s direction. After taking over Twitter, Musk dissolved the company’s board and its C-Suite emptied out. As the sole board director and owner of the company, Musk can appoint the next CEO – and also tell that person what to do in the role.”

So buckle up and get ready for even more shenanigans and fuckery.
