Hundreds of Musicians Playing FREE Live Music on Market St.

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

If you’ve been walking around mid-market street this summer, you may have noticed all the musicians set up on stoops and storefronts and livening up the patios and sidewalks of the city.  This kind of artful ambiance didn’t just happen by accident…

Market Street Arts brought live music and performance artists to Mid-Market with Busk it! Connecting local performers and businesses on Market Street’s sidewalks between 5th and 8th streets, Busk it! is happening now and running throughout 2024.

The Busk it! program launched with a full-day, live music-filled kick-off event in March, 2024 and has been filling Market Street with music all summer.

Now, Market Street Arts has expanded the successful program, to inviting live performers of all kinds to apply for paid gigs in Mid-Market. Dancers, performance artists, magicians, stiltwalkers, contortionists… maybe even a pink gorilla? Busk It! has grown to include performers that go beyond live music to bring entertainment to the Market Street community.

Busk it! was recently featured by KPIX CBS News Bay Area:
