A Country Western Hoedown in Downtown SF!

By far, San Francisco’s most successful and consistently well-attended street party, Downtown First Thrusdays, is expanding its free programming to the city’s first Entertainment Zone on Front Street, with boots, spurs, and a giant disco bison.

Lower Haight Line Dancing will get crowds in the yeehaw spirit with all-levels line dancing, and Jose Canchola and Sofia Claire will bring country roots, a touch of rock, and soulful vocals to the streets. Recently crowned 2025 Hunky Jesus Pageant winner (and self-proclaimed “farm-to-disco”) WILD WEST will host the party, riding in on his giant disco bison.
Downtown Hoedown at DFT starts on May 1st, with line dancing, live bluegrass and country music, a mechanical bull, great bars, and plenty of surprises.

DFT was originally launched as a three-month trial, but since the street party began attracting tens of thousands of people every month, the program continued for a full year and is fully funded through December 2025, with donations from Chris Larsen, Michael Moritz, Bob and Randi Fisher, Levi Strauss & Co., Salesforce, and JPMorgan Chase.

“Downtown First Thursdays has already proven that joy is both contagious and a solid economic development strategy. The 2nd Street block party has already delivered $11.9 million in direct economic benefit to downtown and we’re just getting started. I can’t wait to see what the Downtown Hoedown brings to Front Street,” said Manny Yekutiel, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Civic Joy Fund.
“We’re bringing everything you love about country western and the Bay Area together to create magic in the streets,” said Katy Birnbaum, CEO and Founder of Into The Streets, “get ready for a boot scootin’, fan clacking good time, San Francisco!”
Attendees are strongly encouraged to dress to impress with country-western flair. Think boots with spurs, fringe, cowboy hats, denim and lots of sparkle.

The event is FREE and open to all ages
