Broke-Ass of the Week – Anna G.
Every week we feature a different person from the community shedding a little light on their life of brokeitude. Who knows, maybe you’ll learn something about the human spirit'probably not.
Wanna be a Broke-Ass of the Week? Holler at us here and we’ll send you the questionnaire.
Name: Anna G.
Age: 26
Occupation: Program Associate for a non-profit
What neighborhood do you live in?: Within an uncertain borderline between Bushwick and Williamsburg, in Brooklyn.
Best money saving tip: Don’t eat dinner on weekdays, and keep crazy tabs on your checking account.
What do you refuse to spend money on?: Video games and haircuts.
Most expensive thing you’ve ever bought: Probably a purse or a broker’s fee.
How’d that feel?: Good at the time, terribly stupid in the long run.
Favorite cheap eat: Falafel pitas or $3 tacos at the taco truck in Union Pool. In CA, though, burritos for sure (NY burritos SUCK!)
Favorite dive bar: Bushwick Country Club or Mona’s. Do those count?
Best deal you’ve ever gotten: $40 for an external hard drive with a bunch of music on it, just after I had my computer stolen!
Favorite free thing to do: Lay out at the park, or get into the MoMA for free with my CUNY ID.
If you woke up a millionaire, what’s the first thing you’d buy?: If I wasn’t paying off debts, the first thing I’d do is buy an apartment.
Despite not having money, do you still love your life?: Yes. No matter how many times I get broken into or mugged, I’ve still managed to have the time of my life here.
Do you own my book?: Yes! Both of them!
Best hangover cure: Sleeping, water, and brunch.
Are you a hipster?: Not acknowledging your hipsterness is the first sign of being a hipster. However, despite living in Bushwick/Williamsburg, I’m pretty certain I’ve maintained at least some integrity.
