Museum Mile Festival: FREE Admission to 10+ Museums
There’s this exhibit at the Guggenheim that I am fairly certain I will hate but that I want to see because I am interested in masochism and also surprises. Not at the same time.
However, the Guggenheim is expensive as fuck for no reason (18 bucks to fume about how much Cindy Sherman sucks? No thanks.) so imagine my delight when I stumbled across this gem: today is the Museum Mile Festival, which basically exists to celebrate the fact that there are a lot of museums on or around Fifth Ave. on the Upper East Side in Manhattan. It’s not just the Guggenheim, if contemporary photography isn’t your thing: other participating museums include the Neue Galerie, the Met, the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum, El Museo del Barrio, Museum of the City of New York, the Jewish Museum, the National Academy Museum and the Goethe-Institut.
Did I mention that admission to them is FREE this evening? If nothing else, that whole stretch of Fifth Ave. closed to cars should be wildly pleasant. I hear there will be live music. And jugglers.
