B.A.D. Burger is Freaking G.O.O.D.
Waffles are delicious at most hours of the day, the exception being any hour after midnight on a day you’re going under anesthesia. Until recently, Kellogg’s Diner was the only place in Williamsburg you could get a fatty Belgian waffle at all hours of the night. Sure, the jokes about their lobster tank never get old, but the food fills you up in that “there’s something dying in my stomach” kind of way and the atmosphere’s got nothin’ on Tina’s Restaurant. Instead, you should fulfill your late-night breakfast food cravings at B.A.D. Burger.
B.A.D. Burger takes a few diner menu staples and makes them ten times better than you expected, leaving off the creepy California salad, cold salad platter and anything else resembling a 1950’s cookbook photo. They’ve got classic French toast, along with a cinnamon roll French Toast, a savory version with avocado and pico de gallo and corn-flaked dipped. There are pancakes with walnuts and caramelized apples and walnuts, a sandwich called “waffle insanity,” and every possible egg dish you could want. They’ve got a burger called the Hulk that’s smeared with the best green chili sauce ever. The macaroni and cheese automatically comes with a salad, it’s like they care about your digestive track! And for all the herbivores, not only can you substitute eggs for tofu at no extra cost, there are three different types of veggie burger patties to choose from (black bean, portabello or beet). Most of the entrees are around $10, and the portions are huge. The chili dogs take up the entire plate and come with a mountain of fries.
While it’s open 24 hours like Kellogg’s and a lot of diners, B.A.D. Burger doesn’t play top 40 radio. So you’ll never had to suffer through “Hey There Delilah,” “Tears in Heaven” or anything by Sheryl Crow. There’s free wireless, it’s BYOB and it’s only a few blocks away from the Levee and Savalas. It’s the best place for rib sticking comfort food that tastes amazing even when you’re not several PBRs into the night.
