BA of the Week – Anhvu Buchanan

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Every week we feature a different person from the community shedding a little light on their life of brokeitude. Who knows, maybe you’ll learn something about the human spirit — probably not.

Wanna be a Broke-Ass of the Week? Holler at us here and we’ll send you the questionnaire.

When I asked Anhvu what he’d like to be included in the intro to his Broke-Ass of the Week, this is what he said.  It’s kinda amazing:

Even though I have the same stylist as Betty White, I’m hella broke and will be for another few years. My book of poems still isn’t published and when someone wanted to publish it they wanted me to pay them (looking at you BLAZEVOX) and I’m too broke for that. Maybe one day it’ll get published and I’ll be able to buy the Pug I’ve always wanted to replace the dog my ex girlfriend won’t let me see. Also, I met Broke Ass Stuart once at an Indie Flea Market type thing and got a sticker from him. He’s dope and if I was Broke Ass of the Week I think it would improve my chances of getting on The Real World and fulfilling my dream of being the first Asian Guy on that show. I started a movement called The Bromanticism Poetry Movement. It’ll be huge one day, watch. Love you Kanye and Paul Rudd!

Like I said, amazing!  Read below for his answers to our harrowing questions:
