Midway Bar: No gimmicks, No Schticks
Here’s another one from the guys who brought you Ontario, Great Lakes (R.I.P), Buttermilk and Boat Bar. And like the others Midway has incredibly cheap drinks, is lit with dim colorful lights, has plenty of barroom games to fiddle with, has an eclectic custom jukebox with all your favorite hits (and some you’ve never heard of), and has a contingent of badass bartending chicks slanging booze to your drunk-ass! How can you go wrong? Seriously, the owners of these establishments know how to run a dive!
During happy hour all drafts, wines and well drinks are $3! After that they go up to $5, while all call drinks and top shelf liquors stay the same price, ranging between $6 and $9! Because of these prices and because of the location, this bar has quickly found itself to be a neighborhood favorite, even though they just opened last year. It’s sometimes a little loud, sometimes a little crowded, but it’s always a great place to get a cheap drink.
I suggest going here if you want to talk to a friendly pretty bartender, listen to a good jukebox, and order a stiff drink or a cold beer. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT FANCY COCKTAILS! The bartender will probably tell you they don’t have the ingredients or straight up laugh in your face. If you’re lucky, the barkeep may ask what color your cocktail is and then whip something up that’s blue, green or aquamarine, but that’s an old trick of the trade. Don’t worry, most of the time you wont notice the difference anyway.
