FREE Fun-Filled Weekend: SF Zine Fest and Rock Make Festival
On Saturday begins the 8th annual San Francisco Zine Fest, a FREE two-day conference for independent and underground publishing. Exhibitors come from all over the West Coast for showcases, workshops, and events. It’ll mostly focus on zines, but a wide range of DIY will be represented as well '” all sorts of comics, arts, crafts, literary presses, etc. It’s not just for the Jew-fro-zit-riddled-comic-dork teens out there. It’s also for the Jew-fro-zit-riddled-comic-dorks that grew up into semi-respectable broke adults (us).
After you nerd out at the SFZF, make your way over to the Mission on Sunday for the Rock Make Music and Art Street Festival. Two stages, 15 bands, and 70 vendors will be at this FREE event, organized in part by The Bay Bridged and Noise Pop, whose events are usually a guaranteed good time.
Saturday night, if you’re not too exhausted from leafing through comics, you can choose between SFZF’s Benefit Show/Afterparty at Amnesia or get ready for Sunday by attending Rock Make’s pre-party at the Rite Spot (featuring Dame Satan).
