The Mauna Loa Club

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

So here’s the skinny.  This is one of those places that has the potential to be one of the great dives in the City, but then has one major shortcoming.  The Good:  The bartenders here are amazing at making drinks and being nice people.  The interior looks like someone was going for a Hawaiian/Tiki theme, but then got lazy and gave up halfway through (note the giant turtle shell on the wall…awesome!).  In the back they even have that basketball game that you used to play at Chuck E. Cheese’s as a kid.  The Bad: On weekend nights this place is filled with nothing but dudes in stripped shirts and girls who complain about how uncomfortable their ridiculous shoes are.  You know what I’m talking about.

P.S.  If you’re a dude in a stripped shirt, or a girl who complains about how uncomfortable your ridiculous shoes are, I still love you.  Please buy my book.
