Tax day looms on the horizon for a lot of people, but for people in the service industry, its passing is always highly anticipated. Like giving things up for Lent and making new year resolutions, the months following Christmas and leading up to tax day inspire the average consumer to cut back on the nights out and boil pasta and hamburger meat at home instead of ordering Chinese. Needless to say, in a city where most people’s supper is usually of the veg burrito variety, this frugality hardly lasts.

For example, the LookOut is pushing their Beat the Clock Thursday Happy Hour in recognition of the occasion. Well drinks are 50¢ at 4:00 pm and go up 50¢ every half hour '˜til 8. The appeal, of course, is that if the IRS emptied your pockets once again, that you can at least pickle your sorrows for mere coins afterwards. The incremental rise in price and somewhat crowded environment may be a little too reminiscent of a government institution, though. Heated frenzy, clawing, the inevitable tea bag references- It’ll be like getting hammered at the post office'. a neon-hued, dimly-lit post office.
