Get Your Culture on for FREE at The Dresses/Object Project Installation This Weekend
Some art exhibits I’ll go to simply for the FREE munchies, bubbly and hit-or-miss eye candy, but The Dresses/Object Project Installation at Z Space at Theatre Artaud actually sounds like something I’d go to sober and without the promise of deviled eggs (though, excitingly, I hear there will be FREE wine and snacks here — double score). Artist Katrina Rodabough, inspired by Gertrude Stein’s Tender Buttons (which we’ll try to ignore, because Gertrude Stein = kill me now), has created a mind-bending conglomeration of works by over 30 female artists that crosses genres, including literary, visual, and performing arts.
On Friday and Saturday, there will also be live dance performances choreographed by Erin Mei Ling Stuart in which, as the press release for this event states, “Rodabaugh and Stuart create an alternative fashion world, complete with art objects as dresses, dancers as fashion models, and installation as studio.” Super artsy-sounding and FREE to boot, so you can bet I’ll be there. Probably lurking by the appetizer table, but there nonetheless.
