Laggers Rejoice — Late Happy Hour at The Corner!
Most nights I’m out, I have one goal — getting a burrito by the time the night is through. There’s just something about that meaty, guacamole-y, floury goodness that seems to soak all the alcohol right up — or at least appease the hideous, hangry monster the alcohol has turned me into.
But sometimes the friends you’re with — gasp — don’t want burritos! And while those friends might not be friends for long, because what friendship is sustainable that is not built on burritos (I think that might be in the Bible somewhere), there is a late-night place to take them that does NOT serve burritos. That place is The Corner.
While there’s also a regular happy hour at The Corner from 4pm – 7pm, the good folks that run the place realize that late-night laggers need love too and have a nightly happy hour that runs from 10pm – 1:30pm Monday through Thurday, 11pm – 2am Friday and Saturday, and 5pm – 1:30am on Sunday. The drink specials are $5 glasses of house wine (and let me tell you, no meager weak-ass pours here), $3 for draft beer and $2 for PBR, while “small plates” are a mere $6.50. I put “small plates” in parentheses because the late night happy hour food menu is bascially the dinner menu, but if you buy the same thing during actual dinner hours, you’ll be charged literally twice as much for the same amount of food. The photo above is just one example, and, in my expert foodie opinion, what you should probably order when you go — slow-cooked pork shank with cheesy hashbrowns, braised greens, maple sauce and a poached egg on top. Sound weird? It is, but in the best sense of the word.
