Get Your Gay On at Sunday's Castro Street Fair

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

I'm the one on the left!

The festival/street fair season is coming to an end, which is a shame considering the nice weather my iPhone weather thing tells me will be continuing into the next month.  You’ve pounded Jager bombs with some dudes at Bar None during the Union Street Festival, played the djembe with some hippies at the Haight Street Fair, and saw a LOT of things you weren’t expecting at last weekend’s Folsom Street Shitshow (and probably had an awesome time).  What could possibly come next?

Well, for those of you not attempting the craziness that is Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, you have another option — the Castro Street Fair.  This is one of your last chances to chomp some turkey legs, kebabs, jerk chicken and NOT buy $8 Bud Lights (because you, as a broke-ass, are smart enough to have your flask on you at all times), hang out in the sun before you forget what it feels like, and don some completely inappropriate daytime costumes because apparently the theme of the festival is “Get Your Freak On.”

So seriously, go and get your freak on.  It’s pretty much required.

Castro Street Fair Sunday, October 3, 11am – 6pm Market & Castro [Castro] FREE!

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
