Get Extra Use Out of Your Halloween Costumes at the Giants Parade Today
Even if you’re not crazy into baseball, you have to be excited about our city’s HUGE win in the World Series (unless you have a heart of stone or are a filthy Yankee fan), if only for the sheer amount of joy permeating the air last night. By “joy,” of course, I mean streaming rolls of toilet paper, but whatever. The fact that the Giants clinched Game 5 for the win in Texas gives us the best of both worlds — the sting of the year for the second-largest state in the union on their home turf (take that, multiple Bushes!) AND the opportunity for the team to come back to San Francisco and parade through the streets, giving all of us yet another chance to day drink and don the Halloween costumes we so creatively put together/bought out of a bag from Costumes on Haight.
Why they didn’t make the parade start just a little later than 11am is kind of beyond me — I mean, kids are still in school, people who have real jobs are working at them, and I am usually sleeping. But there’s no doubt that while the parade (which begins at the intersection of Montgomery and Washington, heads southbound on Montgomery, then westbound down Market, ending at Civic Center Plaza) may end early, the celebrations will continue alllllllll day/night. And if tonight’s festivities are anything like last night’s, I might fracture my other arm trying to scale a gridlocked Muni again and have to get a rabies shot.
