Spruce Up Your Ag Skills at the Mills Community Garden
I started out on BrokeAssStuart.com as the crunchy, garden-loving, East Bay correspondent and it’s about time I got back to my roots. Pun! If you remember, I told you last year how to set up a garden for FREE (Part I & II). Now I’m coming at you with some new gardening opportunities.
Mills College’s Community Garden is having their last Garden Gathering of the season this Friday. Here’s their spiel:
“You can join members of our local community in growing healthy, seasonal food while engaging in an inclusive, positive community space. Learn how to plant seeds, water, harvest, manage pests, etc. all in balance with natural cycles and patterns. No experience needed. Everyone welcome. Please bring sun protection! Show up when you can!”
How kumbaya inclusive does that sound?! I went to visit Mills College last week because I’m thinking of furthering my education, what with the lack of employment opportunities. I want to go back to school so I can write a book. My dad wants me to go back to school to find a rich husband. Well, with only an 18% male student population, I think my pops is gonna be disappointed. Especially since, when I happened to meet Feist later that night (name drop!), I developed a new girl crush. After spending just two hours at Mills, I’m already a little more Millsbian. But that’s beside the point. Go learn how to garden!
