FREE Drinks, Snacks and Shenanigans at the Mission Holiday Block Party

So much to do this week! Another reason I love this time of the year — it’s super busy, but in a fun, endless-ugly-sweater-parties kind of way. Right off the heels of last night’s Divis Art Walk comes tonight’s Mission Holiday Block Party, a FREE event that over forty local stores, restaurants and merchants are participating in.
To help you catch a break on some of those Christmas presents, many shops are offering discounts during the party, including 20% off clothes and gift items at BellJar (one of my personal favorite places in the world), 25% off all sale items at Community Thrift (which, incidentally, has an amazing selection of very inexpensive used books), and 10% off at Candystore Collective. To get you loose so that you spend more money, there will also be FREE champagne, cocktails and appetizers at a number of spots, like Needles & Pens, The Curiosity Shoppe, and The Mission Statement.
You’ll also be excited to know that extended happy hours will be in full effect tonight at Dalva, Casanova Lounge, Little Star Pizza and a bunch of other bars. If you’re in the hood, stop by 826 Valencia at 7:30pm to hear readings from a new student publication entitled I Live Real Close to Where You Used to Live. You can pick up a couple eye patches for your little cousins while you’re at it.
