Snob Theater — The Only Time It's Cool To Be Stuck-up
My best friend in the world is coming up to San Francisco on Thursday. I always get anxious when my friends from other cities come and visit; what if they leave and tell everyone how much cooler their town is than San Francisco? Well, thanks to Trader Joe’s (specifically Two-Buck Chuck and Vodka of the Gods), Lifetime movies and Rock Band, I’m sure that’s never happened. But this time my friend has expressed the strange notion that she actually wants to go somewhere other than my living room couch while she’s in the city, and since “The Craigslist Killer” doesn’t premiere until January 3rd, I have no excuse not to comply.
One thing I’m pretty sure everyone likes is music and funny things, so I’m going to take my friend to Snob Theater at the Dark Room tomorrow night. Ten bucks gets you a night of indie tunes from Foxtails Brigade, The Shants and “guests” (who could they be?) plus live comedy featuring funny people Jeff Reitman, Kevin Camia, Kristee Ono, and Vladimir Khlynin. If you’ve been to the Dark Room, you know they always host super cool events there; if you haven’t been, this seems like a pretty good excuse to finally get on that. And I have to say, $10 for a couple different types of entertainment in one night is very reasonable. Even if it doesn’t include pounding Vodka of the Gods out of the ASU shot glasses my grandma sent me for Christmas.
Snob Theater Indie Music & Comedy Show at the Dark Room Thursday, December 30, 10pm – midnight 2263 Mission St. (btwn. 18th & 19th St.) [Mission] $10
