Take a Hike Past the Shipwrecks of San Francisco this Weekend.
If I had to pick just two totally free things I love about San Francisco they’d probably be: an abundance of quirky historical stories and the abundance of urban hikes with million-dollar views. Hiking Land’s End is a favorite because you can check out cool stuff like the Cliff House, the Sutro Baths and brunch at Louis’. Now this weekend some hikers and shipwreck nerds are meeting up to hike the Land’s End Trail while taking in views of some of the more than two hundred ships that sank near the Golden Gate.
Now technically, you can do this hike by yourself, (the trailside historical markers have maps of the shipwrecks) but if you meet up with the group at the trailhead you’ll be timing it right to catch low tide when two of the sunken ships are the most visible. Plus you’re almost guaranteed to make a new friend who knows a lot about triple-masted clipper ships or something. Fun! Bring binoculars!
