EATING HEALTHY!

My New Year’s resolution to be a healthier lady (and, in turn, gain the body of a young Cindy Crawford) is going pretty well.  I joined a CSA, started chewing Trident Tropical Twist (the best gum in the world) instead of chocolate-covered pretzels while watching my beloved Hoarders, and made pretty good friends with the Lyon Street Steps.  I’m also developing a taste for most vegetables, which has led me to a bunch of local farmers markets with a wad of cash.  I know “a wad” sounds like a lot, but usually it’s, like, eight bucks that I find in my various coat pockets throughout the week.

Anyway, while I am basically in love with my little Sunday Divisadero Farmers Market, probably because it’s only a few blocks from my apartment, the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market is running a really cool promotion for the entire month of February.  If you’re one of the first 50 people to show up at 10am, the market’s opening, on Tuesdays or Thursdays, you’ll get a voucher to cash in for FREE veggies during your visit.  The deal of the day is posted on Twitter about half an hour before the market opens, so you can be discerning about the days you call in late to work.  For example, yesterday’s freebie was mixed beets from County Line Harvest.  Now, beets make me want to stab my tongue off, so I didn’t get up early.  But if tomorrow’s deal is, like, any type of pepper or brussels sprouts, watch out.  I have no problem slamming your kids to the ground on my way to the front of the line.

FREE Veggies for First 50 Customers at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market Every Tuesday & Thursday in February, 10am 1 Ferry Bldg [Financial District]

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
