Unleash the Stop-Motion Love in Your Heart at a FREE Animation Class
I don’t usually post about events happening in Oakland because I don’t like to think about places that are not San Francisco. It’s almost like if I don’t think about them, they don’t exist, so if there’s ever some kind huge disaster, like a tsunami or a tornado hitting a handgun factory (thank you, 30 Rock), I won’t feel guilty for not going to help out the victims. I realize I’m horrible.
Point is, there’s a cool animation class this Thursday in Oakland, so I have to pop my seven-by-seven bubble for a sec and acknowledge our super-easily-accessible-by-BART neighbor. While the class isn’t technically FREE, the setup is a $1-$10 sliding scale. If you don’t have/want to spend $1, I’m pretty sure you won’t get turned away. Because folks that put on artsy sliding scale events are, as a hugely broad (but I think true) generalization, chill. And these guys want to teach you all about beginning animation. Who wants to learn to make a bad-ass stop-motion music video à la Michel Gondry? ME! How about a flipbook of your roommate being a total Vice “don’t”? Maybe you’re more interested in storyboarding or Zoetropes. Well, you’re covered on those fronts too. Oh, the possibilities.
