Come Celebrate Japanese Culture at The 2011 Cherry Blossom Festival
As I drink my Chinese beer only one place comes to mind – Japan! With the recent occurrence of the devastating natural disaster I’m sure I’m not the only one with Japan on the brain.
Come celebrate all that is Japan, San Francisco style, at the 2011 Cherry Blossom Festival. What could be better than celebrating with great food, beer, and live performances of dance, music, and martial arts?
There will be countless food vendors serving up everything from takoyaki balls to spam musubi. Let your eyes and nose guide you and your stomach will thank you. You will also find a number of exhibits and activities (most of which are FREE) such as origami, painting, flower arranging, and calligraphy. Do yourself a favor and experience another culture right here at home. For more information go here.
Also, from what I understand, Safeway, as one of the many sponsors of the event, will be handing out FREE samples of who knows what. So long as it’s FREE, who cares?
Hopefully I’ll see you there. I’ll be the guy with a Sapporo in hand searching furiously for a Bonsai tree.
You will also have the opportunity to make a donation to the Northern Japan Earthquake Relief Fund. For more information check this out. Even if it’s only a couple of bucks, make a donation to those who need it. Who knows, you might actually help someone!
