Cheap, Dirty Trix

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Oh Dirty Trix, with your whiskey breath and red lipstick, how you hold a special place in my heart. That was my not so clever attempt at conveying Dirty Trix as an ever so classy lady. Anyhow, this place is great.

What you should notice initially is the great group of bartenders on staff. They know what their bar is all about and, moreover, how to operate it. Most importantly, though, they know how to pour – the whiskeys are tall, cocktails are stiff, and the beer is served up cold.

Here are a few of my personal favorites about Dirty Trix Saloon – FREE popcorn all the time. There are also FREE hot dogs during every Giants game (you will find several screens placed throughout the bar). From what I understand, the owners and staff have ties to Illinois as well. I would venture a guess to say the same applies for any Chicago sports team game. (Don’t quote me on that, though.) The pool table is also FREE. I am not familiar with too many places these days where FREE pool is offered. If the table is in use, it typically opens up relatively quickly. The jukebox is also pretty impressive.

Did I mention the drink prices at Dirty Trix are perfect for those of us on a budget? Let me rephrase that – for those of us who are B.R.O.K.E.

If you find yourself searching for your next watering hole, this is it.
