Thieves Tavern: Does It Get Any Better?
With skinny jeans and ironic moustaches abound, Thieves Tavern is a superb watering hole for not only hipsters but all San Franciscans.
Honestly, an entire post could be devoted to the Bloody Marys (served with FREE waffles if you so desire) and whiskey selection at this place. Saving that for another day, I’ll do my best to encompass all that is Thieves Tavern.
If you have been to this bar (if not, you will soon find out), you know its patrons are there to do one thing and one thing only – DRINK. With dive bar prices and seven dollar specials like the “Blue Collar”, consisting of a Pabst tall boy and a shot of choice bourbon which tends to vary, Thieves is perfect for all broke asses.
The bar itself is a dimly lit dive with plenty of bar and booth seating. Just above the bar on either side sit a couple of screens on which you can usually find various sports games. At the rear of the bar sit a couple of pool tables and a jukebox with some of the best selections around. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the bartenders who make their breed proud by being a handful of the best in the city.
If you’re looking for a great dive with cheap drinks whose patrons won’t judge you for the whiskey stains on your shirt and the beers you down, Thieves Tavern is for you.
