Musée Mécanique: Entertainment History On The Cheap
If you have an affinity for history, antique arcade games, and those creepy machines painted and dressed as people, then San Francisco’s Musée Mécanique is a place you should check out.
The Wharf is quite the tourist destination, but as a local you need only to do some digging to find the real gems. Privately owned and operated by Edward Zelinsky and his son Dan Zelinsky the Mechanical Museum is home to over 300 antique pieces. This place has everything from music boxes to slot machines to a one “Laffing Sal” whose laugh will haunt your dreams.
The best part is that entrance is entirely FREE. Most of the machines only cost $0.25 to $0.50 to operate. If you’re looking for some entertainment history on the cheap, check it out.
