Let’s Be Frank: Wieners Rule!

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Why does everybody gotta hate on the wiener? Wieners seem to have gotten a bad reputation in the past – being only deemed worthy of being eaten at little kids’ parties and baseball games. Okay, that sounded really perverted…what I mean to say is that Let’s Be Frank has given the wiener another chance. They serve wieners in the form of damn good hot dogs. These dogs are made from only pasture-based livestock free from hormones, steroids, and other junk, and they never contain nitrates or nitrites (which is a good thing). These dogs are made of 100 percent grass fed beef and can be found in California from the North Bay all the way down to Santa Monica.

Let’s Be Frank started out as a food truck slingin’ wieners outside of the Giant’s stadium back in 2005. By 2008, they had opened another truck down in L.A. Today, they can be found all over the food truck scene, including at Off the Grid in various neighborhoods across San Francisco. They now even have a store on Steiner, where customers can enjoy fresh hot dogs and also order their newer products such as the Family-Farmed Pork Brats, Spicy Italian “Hot” Dog, LocalPastured Turkey Dogs, and their amazing Devil Sauce.

It's a doggy dog world...

The people behind Let’s Be Frank serve affordable, local products to sustain a health conscious and animal loving society. Their aim is to take an alternative spin on fast food. With the right ingredients, fast food doesn’t necessarily mean it is bad for you. Nutrition comes before convenience for these fine sausages. You can even order their dogs online to enjoy in your own home. Try one of these “Dogs Gone Good,”  as their motto goes. You won’t be sorry. Take the advice of one of the top dawgs at Let’s Be Frank and, “Eat as many of our wieners as you can fit in your mouth! They’re good for you!”
