Limon SF: Broke-Ass Gourmet

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Limon isn’t exactly cheap. But, considering the price you are paying for the quality of the food, it is completely affordable for any broke-ass that has the ability to splurge on ocassion. For those of you who are looking to impress a date with a fancy Peruvian meal – take them to one of the three Limon SF restaurants and your date (and your wallet) will thank you.

Get a Pisco Sour to start with. It costs $9, but it tastes great. Order some ceviche. If you want a huge mountain of fish, shrimp, octopus and calamari, get the Ceviche Limon – a signature dish. It costs less than $15 and is seriously bomb. I also really liked the Japanese inspired Ahi ceviche. After that, get the Ensalada Verde for $7, which has beets, almonds and an amazing dressing. I’d also recommend the Carne Emapanadas for $7.75, or the Pescado Limon for $10, which is a nice fillet of snapper fried over a bed of melt-in-your-mouth potatoes and spinach. If you really wanna go all out, order the Carne a la Parilla for $20. It sounds expensive, but this dish is to die for. Super tender steak cooked to perfection with a tangy sauce, onion rings, potatoes au gratain and asparagus. Not too shabby. Did I mention  it’s a top 100 restaurant in SF?
