Cheap Special at Valencia Pizza and Pasta
As far as cheap eating goes Valencia Street isn’t quite the bastion of affordable grub it once was. When neighbourhoods go upscale, they tend to take their eatery prices with them.
However, if you want to stretch a few dollars, there is still a handful of old reliables, one of which is Valencia Pizza & Pasta. True, the name is not the most awe-inspiring and the space is pretty non-descript, but it’s cozy and the portions they serve tend to be on the heavy side.
In this proud tradition they have been offering a take out special as of late. For $6.95 you get a sandwich, fried potatoes, salad, and a can of soda-pop. Granted they don’t have the sonnets written about them that the grinders at Rhea’s garner, and to be honest they really aren’t in the same league, but they are good and will keep your tum plenty full for a good hours with choices such as meatballs, crab cakes, Philly cheese steak and more.
The folks that run the joint are pretty cool about subs and stuff so if you opt to skip the potatoes or pop, they’ll probably throw a cup of soup or something thrown your way, but not at you- that would be mean and probably hurt.
