6 Fantastic SF Events Happening This Labor Day Weekend
Don’t forget you can get all this awesomeness delivered to your inbox every Thursday afternoon by joining the BAS mailing list.
BELLS ATLAS, GUY FOX, Brass Magic
FRI. 08/29 | 8:30PM @ RICKSHAW STOP
I happen to be a huge Bells Atlas fan. The lead male and female vocals are raspysmokey, yet genteel and sexy. The band hails from Oakland and they both visually and creatively represent what Oakland truly should look like in an Utopian world; people of colour and our pink brethern coming together harmoniously and creating something positive.

SF Zine Fest 2014
SAT. 08/30 | 11:00AM @ SF COUNTY FAIR BLDG , GG PARK
The 13th annual San Francisco Zine Fest will have over 150 DIY and small press creators that will be featured in two huge exhibition halls.

San Francisco Mime Troupe: ‘Ripple Effect.’
SAT. 08/30 | 2:00PM @ PEACOCK MEADOW IN GG PARK
Skyrocketing rents. Loss of diversity. Certain workers welcomed like saviors, while other workers are discarded like trash. A musical comedic tale of intersecting lives and cultures that reflect the familiar neighborhood tensions that are polarizing San Franciscans today.
ADMISSION: FREE
Oakland Pride 2014
SUN. 08/31 | 11:00AM – 7:00PM @ 20th + Brdway
It won’t be as large as San Francisco’s iconic parade and festival. But, it’ll be done the Oaklandish way. So, come on out to the east bay and show your love for the communities in which this festival represents: Queers and Oaklandeers.
Enter festival at 20th & Broadway.
ADMISSION: FREE
DJ Sep, Vinnie Esparza, Maneesh The Twister, J. Boogie’s Dubtronic Science
SUN. 08/31 | 9:00PM @ ELBO ROOM
We’re pushing Elbo Room events as much as possible in its last days before…eviction/moving. So, come out and celebrate Dub Mission’s 18th Anniversary with all its resident deejays in attendance.
ADMISSION: $11
FILM OF THE MONTH | One Hundred and One Dalmatians
MON. 09/01 | 1:30PM @ THE WALT DISNEY FAMILY MUSEUM
Although Disney is evil, some have an affinity for their films that don’t include a woman being saved by a man. Instead, this film includes puppies being saved by a tag-teamin’ couple against a…villainous woman. Either way, Disney portrays women as lessthan. Imagine that. PUPPIES!
