North Beach might be my favorite neighborhood. Part of this is because many of SF best bars up are up there. But I also really love it because it actually feels like a neighborhood. Most of the people who live in North Beach all know each other and look out for each other, which makes sense considering how strongly the community is coming out to support the folks affected by the fire that happened on St. Patricks Day. Off the top of my head I know the following places were destroyed but there might be more: Coit Liquor, Rogue Ales Public House, Tuk-Tuk Thai Cafe, Ferry Plaza Seafood.

Starting this Sunday, April 15th and going until Saturday, April 21st, restaurants and bars all over North Beach are doing daily events where the proceeds will go to the people who lost their jobs when their place of employment burned down.  Here’s the flyer Laura Thompson from Columbus Cafe made:

On top of the money from from the events there will also be raffle tickets sold all over North Beach with really amazing prizes that you can win. The money from the raffle will also be donated to the folks who lost their jobs. Some of the prizes are:

  • VIP North Beach night out- a meal for 2 at North Beach Restaurant and tickets to Beach Blanket Babylon
  • A portrait tattoo from the amazing Mez Love at Tattoo Boogaloo
  • A one of a kind handbag from Al’s Attire
  • Con Brio VIP tickets
  • Signed Jeremy Fish originals
  • plus gift certificates to all of North Beach’s finest Restaurants like Sodini’s, Park Tavern, Soto Mare, Firenze by Night, Original Joe’s, Tony’s Pizza and more!
