Ending SF’s Street Homelessness Crisis with Safe Organized Spaces
This came through today from Amy Farah Weiss. It’s a great cause and sounds like it will be a wonderful event. I’ll let her explain it below:
Over 400 San Francisco residents have signed the SOS petition. What unites us?
– We believe that everybody’s needs matter.
– We believe that San Francisco can end the crisis conditions of street homelessness.
– We support the development of Safe Organized Spaces to meet essential human needs and provide a place for people to belong on their pathway to healing and housing.
Let’s meet up to build political will to end the crisis conditions of street homelessness: February 21st at Manny’s
Join Saint Francis Homelessness Challenge on Thursday, February 21st at Manny’s (16th and Valencia) to get updates about recent developments for Safe Organized Spaces, meet other engaged community members, and build political will for action.

Event info: While City Hall works to activate Prop C resources, windfall taxes, and other local/state funding to expand housing subsidies, supported housing units, Navigation Centers, and other types of supported transitional shelter, we need safe organized alternatives for the 1,000+ people sleeping in crisis conditions on our streets and sidewalks each night.
California State permanently adopted new building codes in December 2018 that allow San Francisco—and ALL California cities and counties experiencing a “Shelter Shortage Crisis”—to legally use “tiny homes”, mobile homes, tents, and transitional villages as part of a triage approach to ending the health and safety crisis conditions of street homelessness.
