Crepes A Go Go Closes Down to Make Room for Offices
Anyone who has had a drunk night on 11th Street knows all about Crepes A Go Go, the awesome little crepe cart wedged between two buildings and saving drunk peoples’ lives. Chances are you’ve probably eaten there, even if you don’t remember it. I’ve eaten there a gazillion times, a) because it’s in my neighborhood and b) because I like to drink. In fact, I remember eating there the very first night I moved into my apartment over seven years ago.
So yeah, this is a sad blow to late night eats in San Francisco, especially in the Western part of SoMa. I first noticed that Crepes A Go Go was gone yesterday, when I was coming from the robot bartending competition at the DNA Lounge. Kayla and I were SO bummed! They knew our order without even having to ask. They’d see us and say “Two number 3s coming right up!”
I popped into the liquor store next to where Crepes A Go Go used to be to ask Joseph what he knew. Apparently the purple building next door, that had been empty for so many years, is being torn down and built into offices spaces. The owner also owns the lot where Crepes A Go Go was and is including that in the development.
I checked out SocketSite to see if they had any more info and they sure did. Here’s what they had say:
As designed by Natoma Architects, the proposed building to rise upon the Western SoMa site, which includes the adjacent 350 11th Street parcel upon which a Crepes a Go-Go trailer has been parked, includes 4,350 square feet of ground floor retail space with three floors of open office space above.
And here is what the architectural plans look like:
Bodies the fact that I’ve been eating at Crepes A Go Go for like 17 years and am bummed to have lost it, what the fuck is that building? it looks like someone is melding corporate America with Hollywood Squares.
Anyways, that’s the news. Sorry folks. Luckily you can still get pizza at DNA Lounge and at the new place inside the liquor store. You can also visit Crepes A Go Go’s new spot at 522 Columbus in North Beach.
