Benders Gives Back to SF Music Fans by Putting “Everyone on the Guest List”
OFF MENU IS SPONSORED BY EMPEROR NORTON’S BOOZELAND THE TENDERLOIN’S NEWEST HISTORIC DIVE. HAPPY HOUR NOON – 7PM
I’m a huge fan of Bender’s Bar and Grill. It’s one of the last great divey rock n roll bars that’s still left in San Francisco. I’ve rhapsodized about them before, but to be succinct, I love that the drinks are cheap, the food is good, and the bartenders are the perfect mix of sweet and surly. Also, the walls are covered in signs from many of my favorite businesses that have closed.
Anyways, over the years Bender’s has thrown quite a few loud-ass rock shows and supported oodles of local bands. This Saturday, January 18th, they are throwing a free concert with Bitter Lake as a way to show their appreciation for all the love you’ve shown them over the years. Here’s the info from the FB event:
Since we opened our doors at Bender’s over 16 years ago, we’ve been doing our small part to support the local music scene and presenting some of the best up and coming local and touring acts on our stage with a minimal cover (that almost entirely goes directly to the bands). The likes of Ty Segall, Black Cobra, Mondo Generator, Hellbound Glory, Ails!, Red Fang, Brant Bjork, Trainwreck Riders, Radio Moscow, King City, La Plebe!, Tony Molina, and hundreds more have played on our stage and the crowds have always come out and showed their love for live music and we have definitely noticed and appreciated it.
So this weekend, we’re giving back with a FREE SHOW. “Everybody’s on The List” this Saturday Night (January 18th) with a performance by Oakland’s Bitter Lake a “sonically dissonant, yet groovy, explosion of passion and social consciousness.” Self described as “part Dead Kennedy’s, part Rage Against the Machine, part Public Enemy…” Bitter Lake is an unrelenting introduction to the aural brutality of the raw rage we live in today.
The band plays at 11pm, No Cover.
