Muni Cuts 80% of Routes During Coronavirus
As Joe Fitzgerald-Rodriguez at the San Francisco Examiner reported over the weekend, starting Wednesday, The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency will cut all but 17 of their 89 routes within The City.
This morning Corey Browning, also at the Examiner reported that these are the routes that will remain in operation.

38-Geary
38R-Geary Rapid
8-Bayshore
14-Mission

24-Divisadero

According to the Examiner:
“The SFMTA stated the cuts are being made to allow for increased social distancing on the most vital routes. The agency suffers from understaffing related to COVID-19 that has caused large service gaps on multiple lines in recent weeks.”
Muni estimates that 40% of it’s drivers will be out in the coming week due to self-quarantine.
They decided which routes to keep based on access to medical facilities, the needs of people with disabilities, high percentages of households with low incomes and people of color, and customer travel patterns.
