Pete’s is really one of my favourite kinds of restaurants.  One, because it old, worn and still run by a family.  Two, because they have delicious chickies.  I don’t mean girls in tight sweaters, but I’ve seen them there too.

I don’t know why, but I lose all semblance of self-control when it comes to a rotisserie chicken.  When I lived in Mexico City, rosticerias were on every corner with their toothsome wares.  Why this is not the same in this city is something that escapes me.

If a golden bird is not something that causes you to hallucinate, however, they do have other meat items here, such as ribs, brisket and such, although the B.B.Q. part of the name is a bit of a misnomer.  Whereas, the sauce is offered, barbecuing as a technique per se isn’t readily apparent on the premises.

Sides offered include salads, spaghetti, and baked potatoes (the three bean salad is delicious, but you might vaporize someone’s face after consuming it.)

The items to go are a hell of a lot cheaper than their crispy counterparts at the Safeway as well and best of all, if you are truly beyond, beyond broke, you can simply buy a baked potato for  a few dollars.
