FREE Wine, Beer and Food at Dickerman Prints Tonight
I just got back last night at 1:30am from being on at my GF’s family’s farm in upstate NY. So I’m still a little tired, bug bitten, and slightly jet lagged. But it was an awesome trip! I got to eat a garbage plate, fuck with big time illegal fireworks, go to a drive in movie, drive a tractor, drive an EZ-Go, and sing karaoke at the American Legion. Yeah, country life treated me well, but these bug bites are killing me!
Anyways, I’m catching up on tons of work and I’m exhausted, so I’m just gonna paste this press release that was sent to me. The folks at Dickerman Prints are cool people and we’ve featured them on the site before (mainly because they have free booze and food of course). Enjoy and have a free beer for me:
Photographer Jamie McHugh will exhibit Seascapes: a series of natural abstract photographs of the Sonoma Coast’s tidal zone. Dickerman Prints Gallery will be hosting a public opening reception on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 from 6:00 '“ 9:00 p.m. at 3180 17th Street, San Francisco, and the exhibition will be open on weekdays through September 1, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. '“ 6:00 p.m.
McHugh’s tight crops and unusual points of view of the spectacular Sonoma Coast tidal zone produce remarkable abstractions. Photographing in the sun’s final hour also brings an otherworldly quality to the naturally rich textures, colors and forms of the environment.
The wonderfully lyrical nature of McHugh’s photographic work is related to his other passions. An instructor in dance and movement, as well as photography, for more than 30 years, McHugh strives to 'œcapture life happening during the pause between exhale and inhale,' as he says. His award-winning photos have been exhibited throughout California to critical acclaim.
Jamie McHugh also is an accomplished dancer, author and developer of Somatic Expression: an innovative approach to somatic movement education for incorporating bodily intelligence into daily life. He teaches seminars and trainings internationally and is adjunct faculty at John F Kennedy University and at Tamalpa Institute in the Bay Area.
