Music, Drinks and Happiness at Hayes Valley Farm Tonight

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Party at Hayes Valley Farm tonight!

Seriously, when is Hayes Valley Farm NOT having something cool going on?!  First it’s FREE produce, now it’s an end-of-summer (months, obviously.  Nothing to do with the weather) celebration.  Legally, I’m not able to use the term “celebration” unless the event I’m mentioning is employing someone who’s doing portraiture — and I’m lawsuit-free here.  PORTRAITURE.  God, I love that shit.

For those of you that aren’t as excited about seeing your beautiful form drawn on paper, the Farm will also be exhibiting live music by Cyclyst & Friends, some crazy “multi-screen visuals” (when there’s more than one screen, you know your mind will most likely be blown), and henna tattooing.  I feel like there’s a point in life where most people outgrow the teenage excitement of henna tattooing (maybe that’s when you graduate to real ink?) but I never fail to get excited by the fleeting thrill of some crazy hand designs.

If you haven’t been down to Hayes Valley Farm, this is definitely the time.  They’re opening their doors at dusk and inviting you to come in, donate a few bucks, and check out the awesome greenhouse they’ve got going on.

“Dusker” End-of-Summer Celebration at Hayes Valley Farm’s Greenhouse Plaza
Friday, August 27, 4:30pm-8:30pm
450 Laguna St. (at Fell)
[Hayes Valley]
$5 donation (but no one turned away!)

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
