Credo's Happy Hour Philosophy: Let's Start at 2:30!
I’ve been to Credo in the Financial District a total of exactly one time. As a broke-ass, I’m not in the habit of spending half my monthly rent on a Wednesday night dinner, but I had gotten my hands on a Groupon for Credo, which I only bought because I was pretty sure I couldn’t go on living if I didn’t try the “Sedanini Alla Credo” dish that all the foodies were hyping (consisting of pasta, Italian sausage, pancetta, sage, pecorino romano, tomato sauce, which is all topped with a layer of PIZZA DOUGH and baked). Remember getting a new bike on Christmas morning and being so excited your parents let you ride it outside in your pajamas? Eating this $23 Sedanini was better than that.
But this lifestyle isn’t sustainable — from now on I will only have the Sedanini if it’s my birthday and my grandma’s in town to buy it for me. I will, however, continue visiting Credo, because despite the not-so-cheap menu, their happy hour is great and begins precisely when I want to start drinking — at 2:30pm. It lasts until 6:30 pm and features $5 “special” drinks, $3.50 beer on tap and well drinks, and a deal on a full-sized normally $12 margherita pizza for only 5 bucks.
Be warned that there’s a lot of suits here, so if you’re scared of adults with real jobs like I am, just sit at the bar facing away from the restaurant so the only eye contact you have to make is with the bartender. Words to live by.
