These Bay Area Bars & Restaurants are Raising Funds for Ukraine

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

We are a month in to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and from all reports, it’s pretty terrible. Millions of people have been displaced and hundreds, if not thousands, have been killed. It’s an absolute humanitarian crisis and Russia has been officially declared as committing war crimes.

There is no doubt that western media outlets are focusing WAY more on this than other humanitarian crises throughout the world, and there are a lot of reasons for this including: racism, US imperialism, and the fact that Russia has nukes. None of that takes away from the fact that there are millions of people who need help, and the Bay Area has very large population of folks originally from Ukraine. Luckily, there’s still a nice smattering of and bars and restaurants stepping up to raise money for people who need the help.

Below are the things people sent to me on social media and I’m mostly cutting and pasting. Shout out to Nils at The Belle Cora for giving me the idea to do this list.
