Haight Street and North Beach Festivals This Weekend
Yeah, I really don’t have much to say about these. Street fairs are street fairs. One of them will have more hippies and one will have more yuppies. Can you guess which is which?
The good thing about attending street fairs is that they are FREE and there’s always decent live music. Unfortunately buying anything at them is usually expensive, and I’m always a sucker for festival food. Here’s a tip for trying to get the food at a cheaper rate:
After a street fair or festival ends, go up to some of the food booths and find out what they’re doing with all the food they didn’t sell. Sometimes you can score some free food, while other times they’ll sell it to you for super cheap. During Bay to Breakers in one year, we stumbled across the finish line party, and since the venders were packing up, they sold us $8 sausages for $1 each. At the time I thought that maybe they were angels sent from heaven to help us with our drunken journey. But in retrospect I think they were just trying to get a few final dollars.
