Let Me Make You a Drink
I’ll be guest bartending on Wednesday night at Elixir for a fundraiser that’s being put on by The League of Young Voters. If you’re not familiar with them, their goal is to empower young people nationwide to participate in the democratic process and create progressive political change on the local, state and national level. Basically, they are good folks doing good work.
Here’s all the details from their Facebook invite:
GET SERVED with the League of Pissed Off Voters!
Some ppl think elected officials are inaccessible. But the League knows that they’re here to *serve*. So we’ve lined up these progressive asskickers as celebrity bartenders at our GET SERVED fundraiser at Elixir on Sept 16th:
Jeff Adachi!
SF’s Public Defender, documentary filmmaker, fighter of injustice, & all-around smooth operator
Jane Kim!
SF School Board Member, arts and youth advocate, bass player, & Tae Kwon Do black belt
Chris Daly!
SF Supervisor of District 6, progressive champion, fiery orator, & former professional bartender
Broke-Ass Stuart!
Local bloglord, snarky commentator, & not-exactly-elected-but-totally-awesome
They’ll be slingin’ drinks, local luv, and political gossip from 9 ’til late.
We’ll be:
*tippin’ like mad (tips raise $ for the League)
*clinkin’ Paulaner Hefe Weizen and Red Bull Cocktails (sales of which benefit the League)
*rafflin’ sick prizes (so bring cash to lavish on yrself)
All bling we bring home pays for the League’s San Francisco 2009 voter guides, your handy-dandy progressive cheat sheets for this past spring and this coming November’s elections.
Oh, and peep this: if you RSVP on Facebook by the day before, you’ll get a free raffle ticket when you stroll in. So fwd this on, haul in your crew, and bring your camera…to snap yrself all boozy with our city’s hottest rulemakers!
