BA of the Week: Technologist Chad Klumpp
Every week we feature a different person from the community shedding a little light on their life of brokeitude. Who knows, maybe you’ll learn something about the human spirit — probably not.
Wanna be a Broke-Ass of the Week? Holler at us here and we’ll send you the questionnaire.
An amateur photographer, attempted artist, barely average writer, and professional technologist, Chad has done a complete 180 compared to others where he is from. Raised on a farm, he ditched country living to occupy an area that is filled with a variety of different minded people. He believes it is better to be weird than just follow the status quo, and is intrigued by polarizing personalities. He is a fan of the DIY mentality, and sometimes he writes, is quoted, and takes a lot of photographs, all that can be seen here.
Now let’s see what he has to say about being a broke-ass.
Name: Chad Klumpp
Age: 32
Occupation: Information Technology (I play with computers and gadgets all day)
What neighborhood do you live in?: Currently I live in Lafayette, LA. I’m sure this neighborhood has a name, I just don’t know what it is
Best money saving tip: Avoid being “Trendy”. That’s way to expensive for something we will all make fun of in 10 years anyway
What do you refuse to spend money on?: Anything that is high priced simply because of it’s logo or name brand.
Most expensive thing you’ve ever bought: A House.
How’d that feel?: At first, exciting, now ready to get rid (due to location).
Favorite cheap eat: Chinese buffet.
Favorite dive bar: Right now I don’t really have one, but years ago, we used to hang out at a bar that was frequented by veterans. We got to drink, shoot pool, and hear some awesome stories.
Best deal you’ve ever gotten: Hanging out in a store that sold used cd’s in the 90’s. Before the internet, this is how I found the oddball stuff I enjoyed
Favorite free thing to do: Lately, go out and walk, jog, whatever and listen to music, podcasts, etc. Clear my head.
If you woke up a millionaire, what’s the first thing you’d buy?: Book shelves for my wife
Despite not having money, do you still love your life?: Ok, so I can’t make this claim like I could a few years ago, but to be honest, it’s all about the quality of people you surround yourself with. Good Friends = Good Times
Do you own my book?: Isn’t it standard issue?
Best hangover cure: I don’t know, I never think about it until I’m hungover
Are you a hipster?: If I say no, doesn’t that mean yes?
