I was born in a post-Bobby Brown New Edition era. So, my allegiances lie with Johnny Gill. For most of my cousin’s summer, Can You Stand The Rain played as her life’s soundtrack through her pink Panasonic FM15 portable boombox. And since she was three-years older than me, and we were as thick as thieves, it served as the soundtrack to my summer as well. Did I mention my mother dressed us in matching outfits?
