Dave Chappelle Joins SF Comics, Sup. Peskin To Save the SF Punchline

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

As many know by now, a landlord is forcing the closure of beloved comedy club Punch Line SF by denying them a lease renewal this August.  Punch Line will be looking for a different venue in San Francisco to continue its tradition of hosting legendary and up and coming comedians for decades.  It is widely rumored that Google intends to move into the building, but the rumors are as of yet unconfirmed, because big corporations hide behind development companies and realtors when they’re acquiring buildings, (especially when they are kicking out beloved institutions.)  Today, San Franciscans are publicly standing up to them and you can too!  Join Dave Chappelle, Grammy & Emmy award-winning comic W. Kamau Bell, Emmy award-winning comic and CNN host, producer Nato Green, local SF activist and comic Kaseem Bentley, local SF comic, and Supervisor Aaron Peskin at city hall!

Press conference and legislative announcement to address the displacement of 47-year comedy club institution, the Punchline SF, which is threatened with displacement when their lease expires in August and a new tech company tenant moves in. After repeated attempts to negotiate a new lease, the Punchline is facing eviction and the loss of a vital community entertainment & performance hub. The Bay Area comedy community is organizing around the hashtag #SaveThePunchline
